The program provides a highly structured environment that uses the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) to develop social, behavioral, communication, and academic skills. Students receive individualized and small group instruction and staff supports.
Position PurposeUnder the direct supervision of a certified staff member, assists certified professional staff with students in the classroom to meet instructional goals and objectives.
Essential Job Functions- Implements lessons and activities with the necessary accommodations and modifications required to meet the individual needs of students in the classroom as directed by the teacher.
- Implements interventions and de‑escalation strategies with students who display significant behavioral issues within the school setting.
- Collect and accurately record behavioral, social, academic, and other data as required per student's specific goals and programming.
- Consistently communicates and collaborates with staff to foster student success.
- Assist students with physical or social disabilities with activities of daily living for the purpose of maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activities.
- Implements positive behavior support plans and collects data on student progress.
- Assists students in non‑instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, corridor, self‑care such as toileting and other related non‑instructional areas.
- Performs other job duties as required or directed by supervisors.

Skills and Abilities
- Experience with ABA.
- Experience with collecting data.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
- Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with disabilities.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
- Effective writing and verbal communication skills.
- Safety Careor comparable de‑escalation training preferred.
- Able to assist with all aspects of student self‑care, including toileting.
- Implement crisis/emergency procedures according to protocol.
- Highly Qualified; 2 years college credits or equivalent (Para Pro).
- Prior experience working with students with autism preferred.
- RBT or ABA experience preferred.
- Safety care training preferred.
$32,266 - $47,397 annually.
