Salary: $64,004 to $108,744 Yearly

Location: Attleboro Public Schools, Brennan Middle School – Attleboro, Massachusetts

Job Goal / Purpose

To promote and develop successful learning for students within the program, manage an assigned caseload, maintain regular communication with students, their parents, and appropriate staff members, and develop, revise, and implement IEPs as required by law and regulation.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Completes all special education requirements including progress reports, IEP development, and facilitation of annual review meetings.
  • Develops and administers curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
  • Utilizes ABA principles within whole class, small group, and 1:1 instruction.
  • Collaborates with general education and related service staff to ensure implementation of students' IEPs and meet student needs.
  • Promotes a positive classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction and student learning.
  • Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize the available time for instruction.
  • Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
  • Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record‑keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
  • Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
  • Coordinates with other early childhood and/or elementary professional staff members, especially within grade level, to evaluate and assess curriculum and participates in faculty meetings and committees.
  • Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, including activities involving school transportation and personal care including toileting.
  • Administers standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.
Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Massachusetts Licensure as a Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities (PreK‑8) or Severe (ALL).
  • Exceptions to the above qualifications shall be made as the Superintendent deems appropriate and acceptable.
Experience
  • Safety Care training preferred.
  • 1–2 years as a special educator.
  • Training or work experience in ABA.
  • ELL and SEL training preferred (e.g., culturally responsive teaching).
  • Experience with Unique Learning Systems (if applicable).
Job Requirements
  • Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
