Student Support Specialist

Middle & High School Attleboro Community Academy

Start date:

August 25, 2026 (with orientation days prior)

Job Goal:
To assist in maintaining a safe and orderly environment for students to learn.

Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years experience with at-risk youth, preferably in a school setting
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7D license preferred
Essential Functions
  • Build positive, supportive relationships with students while maintaining clear expectations and accountability.
  • Implement intervention, behavior support, and de-escalation strategies to support student success.
  • Provide academic and behavioral support to students individually, in small groups, and within classrooms.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and support staff to develop and implement student support plans.
  • Monitor and support student behavior throughout the school day, including classrooms, hallways, common areas, lunch, and restrooms.
  • Assist in resolving student conflicts and proactively address issues that impact school culture and safety.
  • Support implementation of school-wide systems, routines, behavior expectations, and incentive programs.
  • Serve as a liaison between students and staff, helping students effectively communicate concerns and advocate for their needs.
  • Report safety concerns, security issues, and illegal or unsafe activities to administration in a timely manner.
  • Assist with school-wide events, extracurricular activities, and opening/closing-of-year responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to take on additional responsibilities to meet the evolving needs of students and the school community.
  • Work independently, identify areas of need, and proactively provide support without requiring direct supervision.

  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Positive energy, initiative, and a team-oriented mindset.
  • Understanding of, or willingness to learn, core academic content to support student learning across settings.
  • Ability to adapt, problem-solve, and respond effectively to the changing needs of students and staff.

Salary Range: $43,192 - $47,397
