Brennan Middle School
The program provides a highly structured environment that uses the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) to develop social , behavioral, communication, and academic skills. Students receive individualized and small group instruction and staff supports.
Position Purpose
Job Purpose: Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, assists certified professional staff with students in the classroom to meet instructional goals and objectives.
Essential Job Functions- Implements lessons and activities with the necessary accommodations and modifications required to meet the individual needs of students in the classroom as directed by the teacher.
- Implements interventions and de-escalation strategies with students who display significant behavioral issues within the school setting.
- Collect and accurately record behavioral, social, academic,and other data as required per student's specific goals and programming.
- Consistently communicates and collaborates with staff to foster student success.
- Assist students with physical or social disabilities with activities of daily living for the purpose of maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activities.
- Implements positive behavior support plans and collects data on student progress.
- Assists students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, corridor, self-care such as toileting and other related non-instructional areas.
- Performs other job duties as required or directed by supervisors.

Skills and Abilities
- Experience with ABA
- Experience with collecting data.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
- Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with disabilities.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
- Effective writing and verbal communication skills.
- Safety Careor comparable de-esculation training preferred.
- Able to assist with all aspects of student self-care, including toileting.
- Implement crisis/emergency procedures according to protocol.
- Highly Qualified; 2 years college credits or equivalent (Para Pro).
- Prior experience working with students with autism preferred.
- RBT or ABA experience preferred
- Safety care training preferred
Salary Range: $32,266 - $47,397
