Paraprofessional Substaintally Separate LEAP Program
Hyman Fine Elementary School
Start Date:
August 25, 2026 (orientation day prior)
The program provides a highly-structured environment that emphasizes developing and strengthening students skills in language, communication, problem-solving, organization, and academics. The program incorporates a direct, systematic, multi-sensory language approach in whole class, small group, or 1:1 instruction.
Under the direct supervision of a certified staff member, to assist certified professional staff with students in the classroom to meet instructional goals and objectives.
Essential Job Functions- Implements lessons and activities with the necessary accommodations and modifications required to meet the individual needs of students in the classroom as directed by the teacher.
- Collect and accurately record behavioral, social, academic,and other data as required per student's specific goals and programming.
- Consistently communicates and collaborates with staff to foster student success.
- Assist students with physical or social disabilities with activities of daily living for the purpose of maximizing their ability to participate in school or learning activities.
- Implements positive behavior support plans and collects data on student progress.
- Assists students in non-instructional areas, such as supervising the student lunch programs, bus duty, playground duty, corridor, and other related non-instructional areas including self-care such as toileting.
- Performs other job duties as required or directed by supervisors.

Skills and Abilities
- Experience with collecting data.
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
- Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with disabilities.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
- Effective writing and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with collecting data.
- Able to assist with all aspects of student self-care
- Implement crisis/emergency procedures according to protocol.
- Flexibility and consistency in responding positively to challenges, changes, or new situations
- Highly Qualified: 2 years college credits or equivalent or passing score of the Para Pro Test
- Experience with students with learning and verba and nonverbal language disabilities
- Safety care trained preferred

Salary per Attleboro Paraprofessionals Association Collective Bargaining Agreement - Salary Range: $32,266 - $47,397
