Job DescriptionAcademic Resource Center (ARC) Instructor
Full-Time Faculty Position
Degree Required Bachelor of Arts
Experience Required Secondary teaching + academic support setting
Bishop Feehan is a thriving, dynamic Catholic high school that pursues excellence in Sanctity, Scholarship, and Sportsmanship. We are a college preparatory exam school with a full enrollment and waiting list. 100% of our students are accepted into college and university. We are also a school of deep school spirit, community, and service. As we do for our students, we have high expectations for our teachers.
We support them with numerous professional development offerings at no cost, best in practice Professional Learning Communities, a generous 403b plan, and aggressive tuition reimbursement for teachers pursuing advanced degrees.
Bishop Feehan High School is seeking an Academic Resource Center (ARC) Instructor to lead our general-education academic support program. This role teaches students explicit, transferable strategies in study skills, organization, time management, and self-advocacy — building the habits that help students succeed independently, not just in the moment.
This is a general-education support role (not special education) grounded in our Mercy charism: high expectations paired with genuine respect for each student's capacity to grow in agency, persistence, and resiliency.
What You'll Do- Teach small groups in the ARC (1–8 students) explicit strategies for organization, time management, note-taking, writing, studying, and test preparation.
- Teach 1-2 Study Skills semester courses to freshmen.
- Build individualized learning plans and track student progress toward independence.
- Coordinate peer tutoring and support students returning from medical, emotional, or extended absences.
- Serve as a liaison between students, teachers, and counselors on academic progress.
- Partner with classroom teachers each quarter to track student growth and inform transition planning.
- Participate in Student Support Team meetings.
- Bachelor of Arts degree.
- Prior teaching experience in an academic resource center or classroom preferred.
- A collaborative, relationship-driven approach with students, families, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and comfort with routine documentation.
Bishop Feehan High School values and seeks diversity within its school organization. Diversity is the inclusion and acceptance of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and talents that help to ensure that staff reflect those whom they seek to educate.
