The Health Information Management (HIM) Analyst I is responsible for performing the analysis of all Inpatient, Observation, ED (Emergency Department), Outpatient SDC (Surgical Day Center), Endoscopy, and Pain Management records to ensure the quality and completeness of clinical documentation as required by CMS Conditions of Participation. The HIM Analyst I will be responsible for prepping, scanning, and indexing documents. In addition, responsibilities include processing requests for Release of Information in accordance with HIPAA privacy laws.
Education/ Training
High school graduate or equivalent Associates degree preferred
Licenses / CertificationRHIT preferred
Required Qualifications and Skills- Minimum of 1+ years experience in office/clerical/computer work.
- Excellent command of verbal and written English; positive interpersonal communication dynamic with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to clearly, accurately and professionally present and explain complex information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail oriented with the ability to problem-solve using creative and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to prioritize work, handle interruptions while meeting and exceeding quality and quantity expectations.
- Excellent telephone skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Proficiency in technology usage, including Microsoft office applications.
- Operate general office equipment to include personal computer, scanner, printer, telephone, fax and copy machine.
- Troubleshoot computer or system failures with IT to resolve downtime situations timely.
- Work under minimal supervision, while maintaining optimal quality and productivity of work.
- Safeguarding patient records and ensuring compliance with HIPAA standards.
- 1+ years of experience in an acute care hospital setting, preferably in the Health Information Management Department.
- Experience in Cerner a plus.
- Prepares medical documents for scanning, ensuring patient identifiers are on all pages and sides of a form.
- Operates a high-speed scanner to digitally scan paper medical records into the electronic health record system.
- Reviews scanned images for quality (legibility, completeness), selects the correct patient and visit, labels the type and subject for the scanned document.
- Reviews patient charts for deficiencies and ensures compliance with DNV, CMS, and regulatory standards.

Salary Range- Salary Range: $21.06-$31.96
Salary Range DetailsThe pay range displayed on each job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set, and education. This is not inclusive of the value Sturdy Health’s benefits package (if applicable), which includes among other benefits, healthcare/dental/vision and retirement. For annual salaries this is based on full-time employment.
