Field & Shop Manager

Location: Attleboro, MA
Travel: Regular travel to project sites throughout Southern New England required
Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience

Position Overview

TRAC Builders is seeking an experienced Field & Shop Manager with 10+ years of commercial construction experience to lead and coordinate TRAC Builders’ self-performed field operations while managing the company’s shop, equipment yard, fleet, tools, and project-support resources.

Based in Attleboro, Massachusetts
, the Field & Shop Manager plays a key operational leadership role in ensuring TRAC field crews and project teams have the labor, equipment, tools, materials, and support necessary to perform work safely, efficiently, and profitably.

The Field & Shop Manager plans, coordinates, and supports TRAC-performed work across active projects, including general requirements, interior and exterior carpentry, scaffolding, cleanup, equipment support, selective demolition, selective civil work, concrete, and related scopes.

This position works closely with the Production Manager and General Foreman, as well as Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, Safety personnel, and company leadership, to coordinate staffing and resources, support field production, maintain company assets, and proactively address operational needs across projects.

The successful candidate will bring extensive commercial construction and field leadership experience, strong knowledge of fleet and construction equipment management, and the ability to effectively balance the needs of multiple active projects and field crews.

Duties & Responsibilities Field Planning, Production & Leadership
  • Plan and coordinate TRAC-performed construction activities, including labor, equipment, tools, materials, access, sequencing, logistics, and daily priorities.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager and General Foreman on company-wide staffing, crew assignments, production goals, foreman support, and field personnel development.
  • Support general requirements across active projects and oversee TRAC-performed scopes including interior and exterior carpentry, scaffolding, cleanup, equipment support, selective demolition, selective civil work, concrete, and related activities.
  • Coordinate manpower and company resources across multiple active projects based on project schedules, priorities, and operational needs.
  • Visit jobsites regularly to monitor production, labor performance, safety, quality, resource requirements, and field conditions.
  • Identify production or resource concerns and work collaboratively with field and project leadership to implement appropriate corrective action.
  • Monitor field productivity and help establish realistic expectations for manpower, production, sequencing, and execution of TRAC-performed work.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and operational support to Foremen and field personnel.
  • Promote consistent field planning, housekeeping, documentation, accountability, quality, and productive work practices across TRAC projects.
  • Foster effective communication and collaboration between field crews, project management teams, the shop, and company leadership.
Shop, Fleet, Equipment & Yard Management
  • Oversee the day-to-day operation and organization of TRAC Builders’ shop, warehouse, equipment yard, fleet, tools, scaffolding, materials, PPE, consumables, and related project-support resources.
  • Maintain effective inspection, preventive maintenance, repair, certification, registration, inventory, and asset-control programs for company vehicles, tools, and equipment.
  • Ensure company vehicles, equipment, tools, and other assets are maintained in safe, reliable, and operational condition.
  • Coordinate and prioritize repairs, maintenance, fabrication, loading, deliveries, returns, mobilizations, demobilizations, and movement of company assets between projects.
