Material handlers are responsible for various administrative and physical tasks involved in storing, counting, and distributing materials, parts, supplies, and equipment. This role involves compiling and maintaining records of the quantity and type of material stocked and issued. Material handlers support product distribution by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies, and staging finished products to meet production schedule requirements, maintaining the high‑quality standards expected by the company.
EssentialFunctions
- Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock, recording inventory location in Oracle.
- Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying items listed on move orders and pick slips, delivering, and completing appropriate transactions in Oracle.
- Receive return materials and supplies from production, verify item number, lot number, and quantity; place materials in stock and complete appropriate Oracle transactions.
- Prepare finished stock for shipment by identifying, picking, packing, crating, loading, and securing products by following operating procedures and work instructions.
- Maintain material‑handling equipment, such as scales, by completing pre‑use inspections.
- Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Troubleshoot problems quickly and efficiently, seeking advice where necessary.
- Assist in maintaining an organized and clean workplace, including all plant areas, workstations, equipment, walkways, and break rooms using 5S procedures.
- Participate in and implement continuous improvement projects.
- Safely and efficiently meet all assigned requirements by following operating procedures and work instructions, in accordance with the company’s ISO 9001:2015 procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, as well as comprehend verbal instructions and communicate effectively verbally.
- Computer familiarity and data entry skills.
- Ability to self‑start and take orders as directed.
- Consistent and punctual attendance required. Must be available to work assigned shifts and required overtime.
