Position: Registered Nurse- Montplaisir Unit Ortho/Med-Surg 36hr days

36. The Registered professional nurse optimizes patient outcomes by delivering compassionate, collaborative, high‑quality care. The RN promotes excellence in nursing practice by delivering expert care to patients in all age groups, cultures, psychosocial, spiritual and disability concerns consistent with the admission/discharge criteria of the assigned unit.

Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required for Cardiac Rehab, preferred:
    Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
  • Current Massachusetts state RN license.
  • Current BLS certification; ACLS required for Telemetry, ICU, ED, Cardiac Rehab, Endoscopy, LDRP, PACU, Med/Surg units; ACLS and BLS required for LDRP RN positions; PALS required for PACU and ED.
  • New Graduate Nurses accepted for some positions.
  • Excellent communication and customer services skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, good organizational skills, and adaptability.
  • Command of verbal and written English.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an acute care setting.
Essential Job Functions
  • Provide timely, positive responses to the needs of all customers including patients, families, co‑workers, and physicians.
  • Collaborate effectively with patients, families and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized, coordinated, and comprehensive care plans.
  • Regularly assess and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) to monitor patient status.
  • Gather and document patients' medical history, symptoms, and current health status.
  • Systematically assess patients for care needs, changes in condition, behavior, or response to treatment.
  • Administer and accurately record medications according to provider orders and established protocols.
  • Independently administer nursing care, applying both simple and complex techniques and processes specific to patients.
  • Delegate care in accordance with the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act and Sturdy Health guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment as well as individualized nursing plans of care.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and their families, helping them cope with challenges of illness and treatment.
  • Educate patients and their families about their conditions, treatment options, and strategies for maintaining health and preventing illness.
  • Respond to medical emergencies, providing first‑aid and initiating appropriate interventions.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Utilize and maintain medical equipment such as monitors, IV pumps, ventilators.
  • Participate in quality assessment and improvement initiatives and contribute to best practices in patient care.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships across all areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate commitment to customer relations and continuous quality improvement.
  • Charge Nurse duties as assigned.
  • Remain current on nursing practice, licensure, certifications, and competencies.
  • Apply a growth mindset, maintain a spirit of inquiry, incorporate evidence‑based practice, and comply with research protocols.
Physical Demands
  • Sound dexterity and visual acuity; mental alertness, stamina in fast‑paced environments or emergency situations.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, and reach without restriction.
  • Ability to lift between 25 and 50 pounds using good body mechanics.
  • Requires prolonged standing and walking throughout the shift.
  • Fine motor skills for tasks such as administering injections, inserting catheters, and operating medical equipment.
  • Ability to push heavy equipment, stretchers, and wheelchairs.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, stressful or noisy environments.
  • Must meet annual safety training requirements.
Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: $35.88 – $55.56 per hour. Benefits include healthcare/dental/vision and retirement (if applicable).
