Performing under the direction of the RN/LPN and as a member of the unit-based patient care team, the Certified Nursing Assistant performs duties of direct and indirect patient care.

Direct patient care tasks include, but are not limited to: activities of daily living, vital signs, glucometry, EKGs, weights, and intake/output data collection.

Indirect patient care activities include, but are not limited to: transport, restocking, and obtaining patient care supplies.

The C.N.A. is responsible for responding in a timely manner to the needs of patients and family members and taking a proactive role in the efficient operation of the unit.

They function within policies, procedures, and guidelines of Sturdy Memorial Hospital in accordance with Joint Commission, CDC, and OSHA standards.

• Demonstrates the knowledge and skills needed to assist in providing patient care.
• Good organizational skills.
• Personal maturity, accuracy, and flexibility.
• Command of verbal and written English.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and adaptability, creating a favorable image in relationship to the Nursing Department and the hospital.
• Ability to perform simple math calculations.
• Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships across all areas of responsibility.
• Visible commitment to customer relations and continuous quality improvement, preventing errors from reaching the patient.

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Certification as a nursing assistant (CNA).
• BLS required.

Must be able to communicate effectively with all age levels served within the scope of the position/assigned areas.

Must be able to perform essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or others in the workplace, with or without reasonable accommodation.

$17.64 – $26.58 per hour.

Actual compensation will be determined based on work history, experience, skill set, and education. This figure does not include benefits (healthcare, dental, vision, retirement).
