Operating Room Registered Nurse; PeriOp

Overview

The Registered Professional Nurse optimizes patient outcomes by delivering compassionate, collaborative, high‑quality care. The RN promotes nursing excellence by providing expert care to patients of all ages and diverse backgrounds, following admission/discharge criteria and departmental policies. Care is delivered in accordance with the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act, CDC, OSHA, and other regulatory standards.

Sign‑on Bonus: $10,000

• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required for Cardiac Rehab (Bachelor’s preferred).
• Current Massachusetts state RN license.
• Current BLS certification.
• ACLS required with BLS for telemetry, ICU, ED, Cardiac Rehab, Endoscopy, LDRP, PACU, Med/Surg.
• NRP required with ACLS and BLS for LDRP.
• PALS required with ACLS and BLS for PACU and ED.

• Excellent communication, customer service, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Adaptability, strong verbal and written English.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in acute care (preferred). New graduate nurses may be accepted for some positions.

• Provide timely, positive responses to patients, families, co‑workers, and physicians.
• Collaborate to develop and implement individualized, coordinated care plans.
• Regularly assess and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure).
• Gather and document patients’ medical history, symptoms, and current health status.
• Systematically assess patients for changes in condition, behavior, or response to treatment.
• Administer and record medications (oral, IV, etc.) per provider orders and protocols.
• Provide independent nursing care, employing appropriate techniques and processes.
• Delegate care according to the Massachusetts Nurse Practice Act and institutional guidelines.
• Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, including assessments, interventions, and responses.
• Offer emotional support and guidance to patients and families.
• Educate patients and families about conditions, treatment options, and health maintenance.
• Respond to medical emergencies, providing first aid and initiating interventions.
• Ensure patient confidentiality at all times.
• Operate and maintain medical equipment (monitors, IV pumps, ventilators).
• Participate in quality assessment and improvement initiatives.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships across all areas of responsibility.
• Demonstrate commitment to customer relations and continuous quality improvement.
• Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
• Maintain current licensure, certifications, and competencies.
• Apply a growth mindset, evidence‑based practice, and research protocols.

• Stand, sit, walk, bend, reach without restriction.
• Lift 25–50 pounds using proper body mechanics.
• Extended standing and walking during shifts.
• Fine motor skills for injections, catheter insertion, and equipment operation.
• Ability to move heavy equipment, stretchers, and wheelchairs.
• Work in environments with communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and potential noise.
• Complete annual safety training requirements.

Salary Range: $35.88 – $55.56 per hour (full‑time). Actual compensation depends on experience, skill set, and education. Benefits include healthcare, dental, vision, and retirement plans.
