Hours:

20 hours; required nights (11p.m.–7a.m. / 7p.m.–7a.m.). Under the direction and supervision of a professional registered nurse, assists in rendering nursing care in the ED in accordance with SMH policies and guidelines, and applicable regulatory or accreditation agency standards (MDPH, DNV, CDC, OSHA).

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills needed to assist in providing care to patients; all approaches to a patient are sensitive to the patient’s age, culture and potential disability. Positive interpersonal communication skills and good organizational skills. Must meet all criteria associated with responsibilities listed in the core and unit‑specific competencies for an ED Tech. Must visibly demonstrate commitment to customer relations and all basic concepts of continuous quality improvement and preventing error from reaching the patient.

Provides timely, positive responses to the needs of all customers including patients, families, co‑workers and physicians.

Previous nursing assistant training or related experience (EMT, Paramedic, nursing student).

High School Graduate or equivalent.

BLS.

Ability to effectively communicate to all age levels served within the scope of the position/assigned areas.

Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the position without posing a direct threat to the health and safety of themselves or other individuals in the workplace, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

• Salary Range: $19.85–$30.05 per hour.
• Salary range displayed reflects anticipated range for new hires; compensation determined by experience, skill set, education.
