Wastewater Maintenance Craftsman/Hoisting Operator/Laborer

Salary Range: $26.13 - $31.27 per hour

The City of Attleboro Wastewater Department seeks a Wastewater Maintenance Craftsman/Hoisting Operator/Laborer who, under the direction of a Foreman or Working Foreman, is responsible for operating heavy trucks and hoisting equipment while performing maintenance, repair, and construction of the City's wastewater collection system. This position also performs a variety of skilled and manual labor duties and may supervise a small crew.

Duties include constructing, maintaining, and repairing sewer mains, drains, side sewers, and related infrastructure; responding to emergency sewer line breaks and system disruptions; operating heavy equipment including backhoes, front-end loaders, dump trucks, Vactor and jet rodding equipment, camera inspection equipment, and hydraulic pumps; inspecting and maintaining sewer lift stations; clearing lift pump blockages; loading and hauling materials; performing minor equipment maintenance;

assisting with Dig Safe activities; participating in the Citywide Snow and Ice Program; and performing related work as required.

High school diploma or GED and two years of experience performing manual labor and operating hoisting equipment required. Prior supervisory experience preferred. Collection System Certifications I and II are preferred or must be obtained within one year of hire. Candidates must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with Tanker Endorsement and a Massachusetts 2B Hoisting License. The successful candidate must be able to perform strenuous physical labor, including lifting up to 100 pounds, and work in varying weather conditions.
