Logistics & Transportation Analyst

The Logistics & Transportation Analyst (LTA) will report to the VP of Transportation and Logistics. They must effectively problem-solve, multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced deadline driven environment. Consistent attention to detail will make the LTA position successful. The LTA must be able to operate with very limited day to day direction, be able to work from general guidelines and be able to make most decisions needed to successfully carry out assigned duties and projects.

This position operates within defined parameters. The primary goal of this position is to achieve excellence in all facets of the position. Providing the highest quality product safely, effectively, and efficiently decreases accidents and errors and increase profits.

Salary Range: $80k - $95k annually

Essential Functions:

  • Environmental and Health & Safety (H&S)
    • Provides a safe environment for all employees, customers, and visitors.
  • Anti-corruption Responsibilities
    • Responsible for anti-corruption compliance as set forth in the Anti-corruption Manual. Specific anti-corruption accountabilities include:
      • Communicating upward any suspected or actual violations of the Anti-corruption Manual.
  • Operational Performance & Best Business Practices
    • Collect and interpret logistics data
    • Analyze financial data in regard to transportation
    • Provide weekly/monthly reports to management detailing delivery performance, corporate volume, and shipping trends.
    • Analyze historical data and trends to guide future planning
    • Prepare monthly reports on operational and financial metrics
    • Assist in developing metrics for transportation analysis
    • Conduct financial and variance analysis for expenses, services, and quality
    • Proactively monitor shipment volume forecast
    • Manage utilization vs capacity reporting
    • Provide weekly market updates for modes of transportation:
      • Truck (Van Trailer, End Dump, Flatbed)
      • Railcar
      • Export Container
    • Track daily, shipments for purchases and sales against forecast by region
    • Prepare quarterly Board of Director Power Points/slides presentations on transportation and market data
    • Prepare monthly/quarterly market outlook, quarterly review for CEO and leadership team
    • Assist Regional Logistics Managers in implementing strategic initiatives
    • Assist in RFP preparation and analysis for the department
    • Assist in establishing standards / procedures for logistics/transportation
      • Assist in developing plans, policy and procedures to ensure program success
    • Complete ad-hoc market updates and market analysis
      • Develop and track metrics that monitor the overall health of transportation program
      • Work with existing Regional Logistics Managers to
        • standardize how they report daily/weekly/monthly volumes/spend/utilization
      • Reporting for Regional Logistics Managers:
        • Changes to BI reports
        • New BI reports
    • Management of overall BI report catalog for Transportation
  • Administrative Management
    • Sorts and responds to email / mail daily
    • Prepares presentations
    • Maintains subscriptions to:
      • Freightos
      • Freight Waves National Truckload Index
  • Special Projects
    • Special projects as assigned and completed within a timely manner.

Specific Other Responsibilities (regional, local, compliance, etc.):

Supports the Company's Anti-corruption Program through compliance with the Anti-corruption Manual and all Anti-corruption Controls.

Internal Control Responsibilities:

Supports the Company's Internal Control process which includes understanding, communicating, and complying with defined internal controls as well as suggesting and making modifications to the policies, procedures, and controls to better relate to the business. Communicates upward problems in transportation, operations, noncompliance with the Code of Conduct, or other policy violations or illegal actions.

Job Conditions:

Average office environment. May be required to work irregular hours during periods of heavy workloads to meet deadlines. May be required to work non-standard hours or work week.
