Overview
Our team has developed a strong culture of safety, professionalism and personal responsibility, and we expect all team members to adhere to team standards of conduct. The Self‑Driving Vehicle Operator Test Conductor [L1] is responsible for planning and conducting vehicle tests for 6–8 hours per day. He/she will develop a unique set of organizational and operational skills using systems engineering processes and gain experience testing vehicles running proprietary software and hardware.
He/she will operate comfortably and excel in a fast‑paced environment; must be capable of managing up to four communication channels simultaneously via various high‑and low‑tech mediums. He/she will work closely with engineers, managers, and researchers to create and improve test plans and report results. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills and must be a superb driver.

- Measure the percentage of tests executed vs. assigned (barring car issues, inclement weather)
- Measure performance of number of retests. Tests executed, but rejected/kicked back due to not running properly per test plan.
- Maintain Transdev’s high standard of safety, inside and outside of the vehicle;
- Consistently demonstrate situational awareness, an understanding of the technology in his/her care, and a willingness to constantly adjust to changes in the environment;
- Operate with safety as the primary goal;
- Ensure test objectives are well‑defined and achieved;
- Respond quickly to changing and potentially high‑pressure environments;
- Work independently;
- Serve as the deputy for technology by communicating courteously always with management, engineers, and the public;
- Operate a vehicle 6–8 hours a day;
- Create and improve vehicle test plans and conduct field tests;
- Analyze collected data and concisely report results in written and oral format;
- Coordinate remote test site and on‑site development events;
- Organize and manage logistics related to vehicle tests and test equipment;
- Monitor software systems via laptop with constant focus while in a moving vehicle;
- Apply policies, procedures, and standards throughout, including taking personal responsibility for the safety of self and others during testing;
- Adhere to Transdev requirements on confidentiality;
- Provide clear, concise, and accurate verbal and written feedback regarding the vehicle’s operation;
- Complete daily reports and document procedures and tests; and
- All other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of 4 years of experience driving on public roads with a clean driving record;
- Previous experience in technical testing – preferred;
- High School Diploma or GED;
- BS/BA degree or 2 years practical experience;
- Must have the ability to parallel park with minimal assistance.
- Proficiency with a laptop computer and GSuite apps (Gmail, Hangouts, and Drive, including Sheets and Docs);
- Proficiency with using a touchscreen smartphone (Android preferred but not required);
- Good tools knowledge, capability for most test complexity/types, good troubleshooting skills & escalation, good quality of test reporting, some process improvement.
- Able to type at least 40 WPM;
- Good organizational skills, test planning and scoping, resource marshaling (RAD/RS support, equipment) and updating JIRA;
- Must have good attention to detail and be able to quickly and concisely describe their thoughts;
- Capable of responding quickly and simultaneously to multiple scenarios;
- Adapt quickly to new and developing technology;
- Cross‑functional verbal and written communication and issue escalation;
- Must be able to safely maneuver around autonomous vehicles;
- Must be able to multitask multiple technologies, including communication devices and vehicle status systems;
