Requirements Summary of Functions:

The Materials Planner is responsible for ensuring the timely and efficient procurement of packaging supplies necessary for our operation. This position will process purchase orders and monitor material inventory to ensure on-time and accurate delivery, mitigating shortages. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.

Major

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels of packaging supplies to support production schedules.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships.
  • Collaborate with production and scheduling teams to align material availability with production plan.
  • Analyze historical data and market trends to forecast material requirements and adjust procurement strategies accordingly.
  • Monitor material costs and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.
  • Ensure all materials meet quality standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Generate and analyze reports on inventory levels, material usage, and procurement performance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Provides support to the Procurement staff for inventory accuracy activities (i.e. support during cycle counts, support during physical inventories and reconciliation activities).
  • Participates in Product Development activities, packaging design discussions, and brand management meetings.
  • Ensures ERP system accuracy and BOMs are up to date for all SKUs.
Food Safety Requirements/Responsibilities:
  • Comply with all Plant, State and Federal OSHA, EPA, FDA, HACCP, and SQF regulations
  • Comply with GMP’s in the plant.
  • Assist in the maintenance of Food Safety and Quality system.
Organizational Relationships:

Position reports to EVP of Supply Chain & Business Development.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience in supply chain or procurement in an industrial manufacturing environment with 3+ years in materials planning.
  • Strong ability to work in cross-functional and team oriented environment with multiple disciplines.
  • Proven capabilities in the area of project management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics Navision ERP & Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Detail and process oriented.
