Position SummaryThe Divisional Controller serves as the senior finance leader for the division and a trusted business partner to the VP Finance and Operations leadership. This is a hands‑on role responsible for the financial stewardship of the division, including accounting, financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, inventory management, and operational performance analysis.
The successful candidate combines strong technical accounting expertise with commercial acumen and manufacturing experience to drive profitability, improve operational performance, and support strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Complete month‑end processing and closing procedures and lead preparation of financial statements and supporting information
- Ensure all month‑end activities are completed in a timely manner
- Responsible for financial analysis, explaining the results and comparable metrics (ie. Prior year, budgets, forecasts)
- Oversee daily accounting activities to maintain general ledger and sub‑ledger records and produce accurate financial reporting results
- Prepare and review monthly general ledger reconciliations
- Improve control procedures and ensure compliance with internal controls to safeguard financial assets (ie. inventory management, AR, AP, fixed assets, etc.)
- Drive finance and accounting process improvements through Continuous Improvement initiatives (ie. ERP optimization, reporting automation, process standardization, digitization, data analytics)
- Develop and analyze operational finance metrics including, but not limited to, manufacturing KPIs, productivity analysis, scrap analysis, customer profitability
- Coordinate and support the budgeting process for the Division to ensure compliance with corporate objectives and established timelines
- Lead and support FP&A activities for the Division (ie. quarterly forecasts, monthly forecasting, cash forecasting, CAPEX tracking)
- Working capital management for the Division including Accounts receivable tracking, collections follow up, supplier payment optimization
- Ensure compliance with established corporate policies and procedures
- Assist with ad hoc audits and compliance requirements – annual external financial audit, state audits, monthly & quarterly sales and use reporting, US government statistical reporting, federal & state tax filings, etc.
- Conduct subordinate’s performance evaluations regularly, teaching and coaching where appropriate
- 10+ years progressive accounting and finance experience in medium sized manufacturing organization
- 5+ years of supervisory/lead experience
- Proven problem solving, analytical, and project management capabilities
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Analytical mindset with excellent problem‑solving skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office, including Word, Excel (Advanced), PowerPoint and Power BI
- Eager to learn and take on new tasks and responsibilities
