job description title: project manager / estimator – advanced facilities & controlled environments location: auburn hills, michigan job summarythe project manager / estimator – advanced facilities & controlled environments is responsible for the successful planning, estimating, execution, and delivery of technically complex construction projects throughout the united states. This position provides cradle-to-grave project leadership, overseeing projects from preconstruction and estimating through construction execution and project closeout.
the project manager / estimator works closely with clients, design teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel to develop competitive estimates, manage project budgets and schedules, mitigate risks, and ensure successful project outcomes. Projects may include advanced manufacturing facilities, semiconductor facilities, pharmaceutical and life sciences facilities, mission critical environments, data centers, clean rooms, controlled environments, and other highly technical construction projects.
this role is ideal for an experienced construction professional who enjoys both preconstruction and project execution responsibilities and seeks full ownership of project success from concept through completion.
travel requirementtravel to project sites throughout the united states may be required based on project assignments and client needs. The frequency and duration of travel will vary depending on project size, location, and construction phase.
per diem, travel benefits, and project-specific incentives may be available based on project location and assignment.
key responsibilities preconstruction & estimating- prepare detailed cost estimates, budget analyses, conceptual estimates, and competitive bid proposals.
- perform quantity takeoffs and scope reviews utilizing construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- solicit, evaluate, and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotations.
- develop pricing strategies, value engineering opportunities, and risk assessments.
- participate in client presentations, design reviews, and preconstruction meetings.
- assist with contract negotiations and scope clarification efforts.
- support project planning activities and transition awarded projects into construction execution.
- lead projects from award through closeout.
- manage project budgets, schedules, procurement activities, and financial performance.
- oversee cost controls, forecasting, change management, and contract administration.
- coordinate field operations, subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
- monitor project progress and develop recovery plans when necessary.
- ensure projects are executed in accordance with contract requirements, company standards, and client expectations.
- support commissioning, turnover, and project closeout activities.
