Safety Manager - Commercial Overview Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Provide training and guidance to employees and contractors on safety protocols and best practices.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and prepare detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions.
- Collaborate with project managers and site supervisors to ensure safety measures are integrated into all phases of construction projects.
- Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, including training sessions, inspections, and incident reports.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards.
- Promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability across the organization.
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience in a safety management role, preferably within the commercial construction industry.
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse teams.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CHST, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Conduct daily site visits to monitor safety compliance and address any immediate concerns.
- Lead toolbox talks and safety meetings to reinforce safety protocols and address site-specific risks.
- Review and approve safety plans for ongoing and upcoming projects.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure alignment with safety standards and expectations.
- Respond promptly to safety incidents, providing on-site support and guidance as needed.
- Stay updated on industry trends and regulatory changes to ensure continuous improvement of safety practices.
