Position Overview

Commercial Contracting Corporation is seeking a Project Safety Specialist I to support industrial construction and commercial construction projects by promoting safe work practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and helping project teams maintain a strong safety culture.

This role works closely with field supervision, project management teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to identify potential hazards, implement proactive safety measures, and support safe and successful project execution. The ideal candidate is a hands-on safety professional who thrives in a dynamic construction environment and is passionate about protecting people, property, and project success.

What You'll Do
  • Lead project safety initiatives on active construction sites
  • Develop and maintain project-specific safety plans
  • Facilitate safety orientations for employees, subcontractors, and visitors
  • Conduct routine jobsite inspections and document findings
  • Assist project teams with pre-task planning and hazard assessments
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness and response planning
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective action development
  • Deliver toolbox talks and site-specific safety training
  • Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations and customer safety requirements
  • Verify required safety training, certifications, and documentation
  • Support implementation of safety observation and reporting programs
  • Promote consistent and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Maintain jobsite safety records and regulatory documentation
  • Represent CCC professionally during client and contractor meetings
Required
  • OSHA 30 Certification
  • Strong understanding of construction safety principles and hazard recognition
  • Ability to work independently in a construction environment
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with employees, subcontractors, and customers
Preferred Qualifications
  • OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 Certification
  • Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP)
  • Experience supporting industrial construction, manufacturing, automotive, or heavy commercial construction projects
  • Previous experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and compliance assessments
  • Experience delivering employee and subcontractor safety training
  • Familiarity with customer-specific safety requirements and contractor safety management programs
Work Environment

This position is primarily based on active construction project sites and may involve:

  • Indoor and outdoor work environments
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions
  • Frequent walking and movement throughout jobsites
  • Occasional exposure to elevated work areas, heavy equipment, dust, noise, and other construction-related conditions
  • Overtime and project-related travel as needed
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to move throughout active construction sites for extended periods
  • Ability to observe, identify, and communicate workplace hazards
  • Ability to interact effectively with employees, subcontractors, and clients
  • Ability to follow and enforce established safety procedures and requirements
