AboutThe Role
This role will lead and manage our Architectural Product Design department, which includes product designers, product engineers, and computational designers using Grasshopper scripting. You will be responsible for the creative and technical direction of new product development, ensuring design excellence, manufacturability, and alignment with Acoufelt’s brand and market goals. A critical responsibility will be overseeing the flow and integrity of CAD information across the entire company, ensuring master product files are accurate, current, and accessible.
This position requires a combination of leadership, technical expertise, and strategic vision to guide innovation, streamline workflows, and maintain the highest standards in product documentation and execution.
Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary product design team, including product designers, product engineers, and computational designers.
- Set the creative and technical vision for new product development, ensuring alignment with market opportunities, brand identity, and sustainability goals.
- Oversee and maintain all master product files, ensuring they are accurate, current, and compliant with internal standards.
- Establish, manage, and continually improve CAD and data management processes, ensuring smooth information flow across design, engineering, manufacturing, and sales teams.
- Coordinate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are production-ready, cost-effective, and meet quality standards.
- Guide Grasshopper scripting development to optimize parametric design processes and automation workflows.
- Collaborate with marketing and sales to translate design concepts into compelling customer-facing materials.
- Ensure all product documentation, including drawings, specifications, and digital assets, is standardized and accessible.
- Implement best practices in design review, prototyping, and testing to validate concepts before production.
- Monitor industry trends, materials, and technologies to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
- Represent the Product Design department in cross-functional leadership meetings, presenting updates, priorities, and recommendations.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in product design, industrial design, or product engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design and engineering teams.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Rhino, Solid Works, AutoCAD) and parametric design tools, including Grasshopper.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and production constraints in architectural or building products.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and enforce data management standards and workflows.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Strong leadership and team-building skills, fostering a collaborative, innovative, and accountable work environment.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strategic thinker with a hands‑on, problem‑solving mindset.
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field required.
Master’s degree or PMP certification a plus.
