The Engine Quality and War Room Manager is responsible for driving cross-functional collaboration to resolve open quality issues related to engines. This role focuses on root cause analysis and continuous improvement across the product lifecycle. The position works closely with engineering, manufacturing, supplier quality, and validation teams to ensure robust solutions are developed and sustainable.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead root cause analysis efforts for open engine quality issues, coordinating across meta-functions including engineering, manufacturing, validation, and supplier quality.
- Collaborate with Design System Engineers (DSEs), Release Engineers (DREs), and validation teams to ensure quality targets are met throughout development and production.
- Lead the Quality War Room used to foster open communication and drive faster results to improve quality.
- Monitor and report on quality metrics, trends, and issue resolution status to executive leadership.
- Support and lead quality reviews, audits, and technical evaluations in alignment with the Propulsion System Development Process (PDSP).
- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and internal quality systems.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives including Lean and Six Sigma.
- Interface with suppliers to address incoming quality concerns and ensure robust supplier quality assurance.
- Manage documentation related to quality investigations, test results, and resolution plans.
- Train and mentor cross-functional teams on quality tools, standards, and best practices.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related degree field.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in engines, powertrain development, or quality engineering.
- Proven experience in root cause analysis and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone, FMEA).
- Strong understanding of engine design, validation, and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Master's degree in Engineering, Business, or Quality Management.
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Green/Black Belt, or equivalent.
- Experience with APQP, PPAP, and warranty analysis in the automotive sector.
- Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis tools.
