SL Michigan is seeking a motivated and experienced Program Engineer to support the design, development, and launch of advanced automotive electrification products. This role plays a key part in managing product design execution, cross‑functional collaboration, and customer program success from concept through production. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead product design development and release activities
  • Interpret customer requirements and translate them into internal product specifications
  • Support Bill of Material (BOM) development and sourcing activities
  • Lead and participate in internal and customer design review meetings
  • Support DFMEA development and contribute to PFMEA, Process Flow, and Control Plan activities
  • Review and approve math data during customer milestones
  • Review and analyze validation test results (PV‑D / PV‑E) and provide engineering feedback
  • Coordinate with suppliers for locally sourced components
  • Support builds from early prototype through PPAP and production launch
  • Provide technical feedback on surface data and styling direction from customers
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and deliverables
  • Monitor program progress and resolve operational or design challenges
  • Collaborate with global cross‑functional teams and customers
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • 4–6 years of experience as a Program Engineer (automotive industry preferred)
  • Experience supporting product development and design release activities
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and cross‑functional collaboration
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and tooling design
  • Experience with CATIA or Siemens NX (UG)
  • Familiarity with DFMEA / PFMEA development
  • Understanding of automotive program management systems
Travel

Domestic and international travel may be required based on program needs.
