Support the assessment and execution of product integration strategies across AM General's product portfolio. Drive collaboration with product engineering, design, supply chain, operations and quality on the planning and execution of integration strategies to include vertical integration, in‑sourcing and out‑sourcing and resourcing efforts to maximize value capture.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Working cross‑functionally to support the assessment and prioritization of opportunities to maximize AM General's product integration strategies.
- Lead process data collection and analysis efforts around development, tool selection, fixture design, automation, production implementation and lean concepts to ensure all relevant factors are captured for proper cost and value analysis.
- Working cross‑functionally to support the development and validation of manufacturing requirements, systems, and other procedures for integration.
- Establish and maintain a set of base key performance indicators to enable management reporting to cost, schedule and performance.
- Be the lead product engineering liaison in support of effective engineering change management procedures and policies as it relates to value integration initiatives.
- Support the analysis and development of capital appropriation forecasts and budgets tied to product integration strategies.
- Be the lead product engineering liaison for discussions with senior management regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Be the lead product engineering liaison working with operations on the assessment and planning around plant layout, plant tooling and equipment as it relates to product integration strategies.
- Manage the development of plans for industrial modernization and expansion as well as ensure the latest technologies are implemented where feasible.
- Support the development and implementation of procedures, controls, and cost reduction programs to ensure product integration strategies are executed to cost and schedule.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Technology or Industrial Technology or equivalent experience with an emphasis on manufacturing processes is preferred.
- 7+ years manufacturing engineering experience is required.
- 5+ years leadership and/or management experience in an automotive environment is required.
- Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma is a plus.
- Experience with A3 Problem Solving is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills essential.
- Strong skills in CNC programming, tooling design and capital equipment purchases are essential.
- Strong skills in metal fab processes and related tooling/fixture design are essential.
- Experience leading a cross‑functional engineering/manufacturing team to execute the production of a new part with a new process.
- Strong computer skills in MS Office applications.
