Dyno Test Technician
Location: Auburn Hills, MI
Contract:
Long Term (W2)
Pay: $33.00
The Dyno Test Technician is responsible for executing tests and operating dynamometer systems for hybrid and electric vehicle power electronics products. This role involves hands-on testing, equipment setup, data review, and close collaboration with engineering teams to support high-quality test execution and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute manual and automated dynamometer testing for electrified vehicle applications under engineering direction
- Set up dynamometer test configurations, including mechanical and electrical installation of test equipment and devices
- Support dyno cell operations, including equipment troubleshooting and maintenance
- Review test specifications to confirm equipment capability and readiness
- Collaborate with engineering teams to review and analyze test data
- Ensure raw test data aligns with defined test processes and quality requirements
- Support power analyzer and test inverter setup with Test Technology and Engineering teams
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives related to dyno cell operations
- Understand test plans and schedules; proactively communicate risks to milestones or deliverables
- Perform work in a hands-on lab environment while strictly adhering to high-voltage safety standards and procedures
- Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology (EET), Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), or a related field required;
Bachelor's degree preferred - Knowledge of engineering principles related to rotating electric machines and power electronics
- Familiarity with automotive power electronics products such as inverters, converters, and chargers
- Experience with electric machine dynamometer equipment
- Experience using oscilloscopes and power analyzer instrumentation
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret technical and product specifications
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
- Self-starter with ability to work proactively with minimal supervision
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel)
- Experience in a testing laboratory or manufacturing environment
- Familiarity with automotive test strategies and methodologies
