Summary
Test Technicians will perform engineering evaluation, design validation, and process verification testing on Strattec products under the guidance and direction of the Lab Manager.
The Lab Technician 2 (Intermediate) will work under the direction of Sr Test Technicians and/or Lab Manager to develop competency to execute product testing. A successful Technician 2 (intermediate) will learn, understand, and actively support the STRATTEC Quality System requirements for product validation within their first 180 days. Successful candidates will understand general safety practices and provide physical organization conformance to 5S methodology.
The candidate will also have basic knowledge in electro-mechanical test equipment operation, basic electricity, mechanics, and pneumatic knowledge.
- Conduct and document test activity for experimental, design validation, and process validation requirements based on Strattec or OEM specifications using a variety of test equipment. Test equipment includes computer-controlled sequencers, environmental chambers, corrosion equipment, and handheld electronic measurement devices.
- Generate detailed and accurate test reports, using photos, videos, spreadsheets, outside test reports, or other tools.
- Consistently report test project progress to Sr Lab Technician, Lab Manager and test project requestor.
- Monitor computer-controlled test equipment, according to written or verbal instructions, which includes after-hour and weekend support.
- Recommend tests or testing improvements in accordance with designs, customer requirements, or industry standards to ensure test validity.
- Contribute to equipment user guides, design manuals and design standards.
- Read and interpret drawings, charts, schematics and test specifications of Strattec, customer, or industry specifications.
- Assist with the maintenance, installation, and improvement of test equipment to minimize test downtown, and increase test efficiency.
- Operate basic machine shop tools. Examples include drill press, mill, lathe, shear, power tools, and hand tools.
- Assist the organization and maintenance of the test lab areas to maintain 5S organization and operation goals.
- Initiate and participate in problem-solving efforts for perceived nonconforming products.
- Manage workload, verify process conformance, and complete assigned tasks.
- Continue ongoing training, education, and seminars to increase technical knowledge and understanding of test specs, test equipment, and soft skills.
- Travel as necessary to support external testing activities and training.
- Carry out tasks assigned by Lab Manager and/or electronic work request system.

- Intermediate computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite products to analyze and prepare reports and updates.
- Ability to handle and manage and organize multiple test projects, data, paperwork and files.
- Ability to work with hand tools and basic machines to alter or create parts; must have mechanical aptitude to work with tools in tearing down product assemblies.
- Analyze test data for anomalies and provide solution-oriented assistance.
- Background in practical electronics, electronic test equipment, and troubleshooting.
- Troubleshooting basics to determine cause of defects or malfunctions with tested samples, test equipment or test setup.

- Associate's degree / Technical Certificate from a two-year College or university, or;
- 2+ years experience in an electro-mechanical test lab executing vehicle component testing, or;
- Equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.
- Preferred certifications include Automation Systems Technology or Automotive Technology program.
