The Senior Engineer for the Vehicle Dynamics Digital Development is responsible for planning and executing activities to support advanced vehicle programs with component and subsystem specifications to meet full vehicle performance targets for ride, handling, and steering. The selected candidate will be integral to the team and work with Vehicle Dynamics Test Engineers, Program teams, Vehicle Development, Chassis Component Engineers, NVH, and Durability.
Off‑line simulation assessments, followed by recommending countermeasures supported by virtual validation with correlated models, will also support driver‑in‑the‑loop activity with models for tuning activities and HIL/SIL integration as needed.
- Create and manage the virtual workplan.
- Ensure key deliverables are met at the appropriate milestones.
- Build, correlate models, and use them to satisfy the workplans.
- Prioritize the workload according to program needs, balancing internal deliverables with vehicle and program objectives.
- Lead technical discussions with interfacing teams.
- Provide technical assistance to less experienced and contract virtual engineers.
- Participate in global process development activities.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a related field.
- Highly motivated, self‑directed, with the ability to manage multiple complex assignments simultaneously.
- Strong cross‑functional team management skills along with superior written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with tire models.
- Familiarity with vehicle ride, handling, and steering, with associated metrics.
- Understanding of chassis subsystems and components (e.g., suspension kinematics/compliance, tires, springs, shocks, and steering/braking systems).
- Two years’ experience in multi‑body simulation (preferably ADAMS Car).
- Experience with other simulation tools (e.g., CARSIM, Car Real‑Time, MATLAB, Excel).
- Ability to coach and mentor.
- Master’s degree.
- Ability to develop custom routines (e.g., Visual Basic, Python, MATLAB).
- Experience with hardware‑in‑the‑loop, software‑in‑the‑loop, and driver‑in‑the‑loop.
- Experience with Design Verification Plan & Report (DVPR).
- Experience with Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
- Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS).
- Ability to extract component detail from NX and Teamcenter.
