We are seeking an Design Release Engineer (DRE) to lead the development, validation, release, and lifecycle management of battery and charging system components within automotive vehicle programs. The successful candidate will serve as the technical owner for assigned components, collaborating with suppliers and cross‑functional teams to ensure products meet performance, quality, cost, and timing objectives.
The role requires strong expertise in battery systems, charging technologies, and automotive electrical architectures, along with experience in component development, validation, and quality improvement activities.
Key Responsibilities- Own the development and release of battery and charging system components throughout the product lifecycle.
- Manage component requirements, technical specifications, engineering changes, and release documentation.
- Support the development of components such as:
- 12V Batteries
- Associated regulators and electromechanical components
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure technical and program objectives are achieved.
- Review and approve technical drawings, specifications, and validation plans.
- Support component integration within vehicle electrical and electronic (E/E) architectures.
- Ensure compliance with packaging, environmental, durability, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in design reviews and technical assessments throughout the development process.
- Apply engineering best practices and Design FMEA methodologies to identify and mitigate risks.
- Coordinate and support component validation activities.
- Analyze test results, field data, warranty concerns, and customer claims.
- Lead or support root cause investigations and corrective action implementation.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reliability, and performance.
- Work closely with suppliers to support component development, validation, issue resolution, and production readiness.
- Conduct technical reviews and monitor supplier performance against program requirements.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in automotive component development, preferably involving battery systems, charging systems, or electromechanical components.
- Experience in component ownership, design release, validation, or product development activities.
- Strong knowledge of battery management systems and electromechanical technologies.
- Solid understanding of:
- Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC)
- Design and Process FMEA
- Packaging and integration constraints
- Environmental and mechanical requirements
- Experience reviewing technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Familiarity with automotive quality tools and methodologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and technical reporting.
- Strong leadership and collaboration skills within global cross‑functional teams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to communicate technical topics to senior leadership.
- Effective conflict resolution and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced development environment.
- Experience with battery systems, charging systems, alternators, or BSG technologies.
- Prior experience working directly with automotive suppliers.
- Exposure to warranty analysis, customer claims, and production support activities.
- Experience supporting global vehicle development programs.
