Position: Senior Project Engineer- 4114485

Responsibilities

  • Specialize in powertrain calibration and development, focusing on base engine, OBD calibration, and validation activities in engine dyno and in‑vehicle environments.
  • Conduct vehicle and/or engine testing, verify data quality, post‑process the data, and analyze results to support overall project goals.
  • Lead the creation and calibration of base engine controls, aftertreatment controls, hybrid controls, and on‑board diagnostic (OBD) systems.
  • Perform general powertrain development work, validation, and certification activities on‑road, on chassis dynos, and engine dynos.
  • Frequently prepare and present technical and project status presentations to program managers, supervisors at FEV, and FEV customers.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Systems Engineering.
  • 36 months of experience in engine or hybrid powertrain and sub‑system calibration or testing.
  • Experience applying knowledge of CARB, EPA, and similar regulations.
  • Fundamental knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and internal combustion engines.
  • Experience with CI and SI combustion processes, diesel aftertreatment systems, and commercially available calibration and development tools.
  • Experience gathering data and running tests on engine dynos, in‑vehicle, and chassis dynos.
  • Ability to interpret emissions results and assess the impacts of proposed base calibration changes on emissions performance.
  • Experience with the OBD calibration process, including creating and executing test plans to define OBD threshold parts and evaluating the robustness of an OBD monitor to various noise factors.
  • Experience interpreting engine and aftertreatment control algorithms and creating experiments to validate new control functions.
