We are seeking a Design Release Engineer (DRE) to support the development and release of automotive Overhead Systems components, including Headliners, Sun Visors, Grab Handles, Overhead Consoles, Interior Lighting, Microphones, and Cameras. The engineer will work closely with senior engineers, suppliers, manufacturing teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to support product development, validation, and launch activities.
Key Responsibilities- Support the design, development, and release of Overhead Systems components throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Maintain engineering documentation, CAD releases, drawings, BOM structures, and related product data within PLM systems.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to support component development, validation, and issue resolution.
- Assist in tracking APQP deliverables, engineering changes, and program milestones.
- Support development and execution of DVP&R activities, including component testing and validation.
- Participate in design reviews and engineering meetings to ensure product requirements are met.
- Investigate component issues and support root cause analysis activities using structured problem‑solving methods.
- Support prototype builds and vehicle integration activities to resolve fit, finish, and functional concerns.
- Assist with engineering change requests and documentation updates throughout the program lifecycle.
- Work with manufacturing and supplier teams to support design feasibility and production readiness.
- Track open issues and support corrective action implementation.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 3–5 years of automotive engineering experience.
- Experience supporting automotive interior trim, closures, lighting, or related vehicle systems.
- Basic understanding of automotive product development and release processes.
- Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
