Akkodis is seeking a Powertrain Calibration Engineer for a job with our automotive client in Auburn Hills, MI. We are looking for someone with 2+ years of experience in Powertrain calibration with vehicle and/or OBD testing in a Powertrain/Drivability/Emissions background.
Rate Range: $34/hr to $44/Hr. (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.)

Position Description:
The D&E Calibrator role typically stands for Drivability & Emissions Calibrator. This is a key engineering position involved in powertrain development, calibration, and validation to ensure vehicles meet performance, fuel economy, and emissions targets.
Role Summary:
A D&E Calibrator is responsible for developing and refining engine and transmission calibration parameters to optimize drivability, emissions, and overall vehicle performance. The work includes significant vehicle testing, data analysis, and collaboration across multiple engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, and refine calibrations to meet regulatory emissions standards (e.g., EPA, CARB).
- Tune engine and transmission parameters for optimal launch feel, shift quality, throttle response, and NVH.
- Conduct cold start, drive cycle, and in-use testing to meet global emissions requirements.
- Use diagnostic and calibration tools (INCA, ATI Vision, etc.) for real-time data acquisition and adjustment.
- Support powertrain control module (PCM) development and diagnostics.
- Collaborate with hardware, OBD, systems, and controls teams for integrated calibration.
- Document calibration status and support certification with relevant authorities.
- Participate in vehicle testing at proving grounds, on-road, and under various environmental conditions.
- Calibration tools: INCA, ETAS, CANape, ATI Vision
- Data analysis: MATLAB, Excel, Python (optional)
- Emissions testing: FTP-75, US06, WLTP
- Vehicle dynamics & drivability tuning
- DFMEA and root cause analysis
- Familiarity with AVL or similar test benches
Ideal Background:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering.
- Internship or experience in vehicle/powertrain calibration.
- Understanding of emissions regulations and control systems.
