Triage Engineer
The Radio Triage Engineer is responsible for the initial technical investigation of radio related issues within the Infotainment and Vehicle Systems domain. This role focuses on reproducing reported issues, performing structured triage, and collecting high-quality radio, CAN, and system logs required for downstream analysis and root cause determination by engineering and supplier teams. The Radio Triage Engineer works closely with Issue Resolution Engineers, validation teams, and suppliers to ensure issues are well characterized, reproducible, and supported by complete and accurate technical data.
This position is hands-on and vehicle-focused, requiring strong debugging discipline, attention to detail, and the ability to follow defined test and logging procedures while providing clear technical feedback to stakeholders. Familiarity with radio systems (AM/FM, DAB, SiriusXM, cellular, or connectivity-related systems). Development and debugging experience in above domains Experience collecting and reviewing CAN, radio, and system logs using automotive tools.
Basic understanding of automotive networks (CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and embedded systems.
Strong attention to detail and disciplined execution of test and logging procedures. Methodical troubleshooting and issue reproduction skills. Hands-on mindset with comfort working directly in vehicles. Clear technical communication and documentation skills. Ability to follow structured processes while adapting to new issue scenarios. Strong ownership of assigned triage tasks and sense of urgency. Ability to manage multiple issues and investigations in parallel.
Key Responsibilities1. Issue Intake, Triage & Reproduction
Triage incoming radio and infotainment-related issues from internal teams, field reports, and validation findings. Reproduce reported issues in vehicles, benches, or lab setups following defined reproduction steps or developing new ones as needed. Validate issue conditions, frequency, triggers, and environmental dependencies (e.g., vehicle state, network conditions, geography). Confirm issue scope and severity before escalation to analysis and resolution teams.
2. Data Collection & Logging
Collect complete and high-quality radio, CAN, and system logs required for root cause analysis. Ensure correct logging configurations are enabled prior to reproduction activities. Capture supporting data such as timestamps, vehicle state, software versions, VINs, and environmental conditions. Verify log integrity and completeness before sharing with engineering or suppliers.
3. Technical Support to Analysis & Resolution Teams
Provide clear and structured handoff of reproduced issues, observations, and collected logs to Issue Resolution Engineers and suppliers. Answer follow-up questions from analysis teams related to reproduction conditions and observed behavior. Perform additional reproduction or data collection cycles as requested to support deeper analysis. Assist in confirming whether reported issues are new, known, duplicates, or configuration-related.
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with Issue Resolution, Validation, Radio, Infotainment, and Quality teams. Participate in triage meetings, ride-and-drives, and investigation sessions as needed. Provide clear written and verbal updates on reproduction status, blockers, and findings. Escalate issues when reproduction is blocked due to tooling, access, or configuration gaps.
5. Documentation & Process Adherence
Document reproduction steps, results, and collected artifacts in issue tracking systems. Ensure issues are accurately tagged, categorized, and supported with required evidence. Follow defined triage, logging, and investigation procedures consistently. Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying gaps in reproducibility, logging, or tooling and suggesting improvements.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field. Minimum 3+ years of experience in automotive testing, validation, triage, or vehicle-level investigation roles. Hands-on experience working with vehicles, benches, or lab environments. Years of Exp: 5~8 years
