Design Release Engineer - Interior Hard Trim Components

The Design and Release Engineer

Develop initial design concepts through full volume production, coordinating with Product Design Office (PDO) teams and managing the entire project lifecycle.

Provide feasibility input for designs from PDO concepts, sketches, and clay models; establish and manage the development timeline for the life of the project; develop functional and build objectives, DVP&R, and DFMEA; lead design efforts leveraging external design sources or internal CAD resources; release completed geometry using CATIA/NX CAD tools; validate virtual designs with CAE and physical validation via component, system, and vehicle-level testing;

manage internal documentation for system release; plan and oversee tool construction and production assemblies; provide on‑site support for vehicle pilot builds and production launch at assembly plants; conduct root‑cause analysis and determine corrective action for assembly, fit/finish, and functional performance issues; analyze and remediate warranty, and identify cost‑reduction opportunities on production.

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering
• Minimum of 8 years of related experience
• Experience in setting and assessing customer (internal/external) level requirements
• Experience in constructing component and full vehicle DVP&R
• Experience with defining functional objectives and constructing DFMEA
• Experience with NX, Team Center, and change management processes
• Passion for vehicles and the ability to access full vehicle performance characteristics
• Ability to construct work plans to resolve issues
• Ability to lead large teams, determine gaps to targets, and develop solutions
