Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Hardware Design Engineer to support the design, development, integration, and validation of embedded electronic hardware systems for automotive applications. This role involves working across the full product development lifecycle, including hardware architecture, schematic capture, PCB design, hardware integration, validation, debugging, and technical problem resolution.
The successful candidate will collaborate with systems, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and validation teams to deliver reliable, safe, and high-performance automotive electronic solutions that meet customer, regulatory, and industry requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Hardware Design & Development:
Design, develop, and validate embedded electronic hardware solutions for automotive applications. - Support hardware architecture definition, schematic capture, and multilayer PCB design activities.
- Translate system and customer requirements into robust hardware design solutions.
- Participate in schematic reviews, PCB layout reviews, and design evaluations.
- Support PCB-to-mechanical integration activities while addressing packaging and thermal requirements.
- Integration, Testing & Validation:
Perform hardware bring-up, debugging, validation, and verification activities. - Investigate and resolve complex electrical and electronic issues through structured root cause analysis.
- Utilize laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies, and other test instruments for troubleshooting and validation.
- Support EMI/EMC testing, compliance activities, and design improvements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with systems, software, mechanical, manufacturing, and validation teams throughout the product development lifecycle. - Support system integration activities and technical issue resolution.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and engineering problem-solving initiatives.
- Product Quality & Continuous Improvement:
Evaluate product performance and recommend design improvements to enhance reliability, manufacturability, safety, and quality. - Support corrective action implementation based on validation findings and field issues.
- Ensure compliance with automotive standards, customer requirements, and functional safety objectives.
- Bachelor s or Master s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in embedded hardware design for automotive or related industries.
- Experience with in the automotive industry, preferably with Tier 1 or Tier 2 suppliers.
- Strong understanding of embedded electronic hardware development and automotive product development processes.
- Minimum 1-2 years of hands-on experience in schematic capture and PCB layout design.
- Experience using Altium Designer for schematic and PCB development.
- Strong understanding of PCB design guidelines, constraints, and industry best practices.
- Experience supporting PCB packaging and mechanical integration requirements.
- Strong understanding of system-level and component-level hardware design.
- Knowledge of embedded processing platforms, automotive electronic architectures, and connectivity technologies.
- Experience with hardware bring-up, failure analysis, debugging, and technical troubleshooting.
- Understanding of automotive electrical/electronic architectures.
- Familiarity with automotive communication protocols including:
- CAN
- LIN
- Automotive Ethernet
- LVDS
- Knowledge of Functional Safety (ISO 26262) principles and automotive development standards.
- Understanding of ADAS, Infotainment, Zonal Architectures, and Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) concepts.
- Knowledge of EMI/EMC design practices, testing methodologies, and issue resolution.
- Experience using laboratory test equipment including oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power supplies.
- Exposure to Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) analysis is preferred.
- Experience with thermal considerations for automotive ECUs and embedded electronic systems.
- Experience supporting hardware architecture or system architecture activities.
- Exposure to ADAS, connectivity, body electronics, infotainment, or vehicle control modules.
- Ability to contribute across multiple technical domains within automotive electronics development.
- Analytical problem-solving and root cause investigation skills.
- Strong technical communication and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional engineering environments.
- Detail-oriented approach to hardware design, validation, and quality improvement.
- Self-driven with the ability to manage multiple technical tasks simultaneously.
