Responsibilities:
- The Design Release Engineer is responsible for the design, development, advance product & quality planning (APQP), and production release of a system/component within Fuels Systems:
Fuel/Urea tanks and fuel/urea delivery modules. - Other responsibilities include quality improvements, value optimization, weight reduction, and other efficiency improvement initiatives including communicating technical product status to management.
- The Design Release Engineer interacts with suppliers and works closely with internal and external groups such as vehicle program team, testing & prototype labs, CAE engineers, supplier operations, and manufacturing plants.
- 2 5 years of relevant engineering experience (preferred range discussed was 2 3+ years)
- Design Release Engineer, Product Engineer, or Component Engineer experience (not primarily CAD/design-focused roles)
- Experience with fuel systems, preferably:
- Fuel tanks
- Fuel delivery modules (FDMs)/fuel pumps
- Urea/DEF tank systems
- Understanding of APQP processes
- Experience supporting product validation activities (DVP&R exposure preferred)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with suppliers, manufacturing, validation labs, program teams, and quality organizations
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required
- Direct fuel tank design/release experience
- Fuel delivery module (FDM) experience
- Injection molding and/or blow molding experience
- DFMEA experience
- Design for Six Sigma certification or training
- GD&T knowledge
- NX, Teamcenter, or similar PLM/CAD system experience
- Virtual simulation experience
- Fastener and torque application knowledge
- OEM automotive fuel systems experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program or equivalent)
