Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical understanding of chassis and suspension systems, including design, development and release processes.

• Must have engineering design experience with stamped or cast steel and/or aluminum components for Chassis and/or Suspension applications.
• Must have a strong background with Subframes and/or Control Arms, GD&T, Physical Validation and Corrosion Protection.
• Ability to lead product design and development and to coordinate design reviews.
• Ability to design for manufacturability and assembly.
• Must have understanding of CAD and CAE activities.
• Must have experience with product engineering deliverables for APQP such as DFMEA and DVP&R.
• Must have knowledge of designing and a thorough understanding of bolted joints, bushings and/or ball joints.
• Must have experience with leading, planning, and tracking engineering activities including risk assessment, budgetary performance, and program timing.
• Must be able to work in a cross-functional environment.
• Must have experience with identifying opportunities for improvements in engineering practices to obtain increased operational efficiencies.

• Coordinate Annual Revalidation Activities
• Coordinate engineering changes internally to release designs in internal systems
• Coordinate engineering changes externally to release designs in customer systems
• Act as engineering point of contact for any production issues
• Support internal purchasing teams in their sourcing of purchased components by providing engineering details
• Clinch Riv Weld and other Fasteners / Forgings / Castings / Sleeves / Tubes / Dust Boots / Snap Rings
• Generate product specifications
• Act as engineering lead in tech reviews and communicate back to suppliers what deviations are OK/NOK
• Act as main customer engineering interface
• Distribute engineering deliverables to internal teams such as 3D+2D CAD / BoM / Change Management in internal PLM system
• Lead CAE + Design resources in development of low cost, lightweight, manufacturing feasible products that meet performance goals and fit in customers packaging space
• Lead/Create Tech Review documents to make a persuasive pitch to customer teams on why they should choose our product in a competitive marketplace
• Coordinate engineering changes with customer and internal teams to meet all product and timeline targets for on time Start of Production
• Deliver high quality engineering documentation and support internal teams in generating their documents
• GD&T / DFMEA / DVP&R / PFMEA Support / Change Management Documents

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or Industrial Engineering or similar, and 5-10 years related experience in automotive design and manufacturing.
