Fuel Systems Design Release Engineer (Auburn Hills, MI)

Responsibilities- Design, develop, and release fuel system components and modules, including fuel/urea tanks and fuel/urea delivery modules.
- Plan and execute advanced product quality planning (APQP) and production release activities.
- Improve product quality, value, weight, and overall efficiency, communicating technical status to management.
- Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams such as vehicle program, testing & prototype labs, CAE engineers, supplier operations, and manufacturing plants.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives for fuel system components and assemblies.
- 2–5 years of relevant engineering experience (preferred 2–3+ years).
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related ABET‑accredited discipline.
- Background as a Design Release Engineer, Product Engineer, or Component Engineer (not primarily CAD design roles).
- Experience with fuel systems, including fuel tanks, fuel delivery modules (FDMs)/fuel pumps, and urea/DEF tank systems.
- Understanding of APQP processes and product validation (experience with DVP&R preferred).
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with suppliers, manufacturing, validation labs, program teams, and quality organizations.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel as required.
- Direct fuel tank design or release experience.
- Fuel delivery module experience.
- Injection molding and/or blow molding experience.
- DFMEA experience.
- Design for Six Sigma certification or training.
- GD&T knowledge.
- Experience with NX, Teamcenter, or similar PLM/CAD systems.
- Virtual simulation experience.
- Fastener and torque application knowledge.
- OEM automotive fuel system experience.
