What you will be doing:
We're looking for an experienced engineer with a strong background in chassis and suspension component design, development, and release
. In this role, you'll lead engineering activities from concept through production while working closely with customers, suppliers, manufacturing, purchasing, and cross-functional engineering teams.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead product design, development, and engineering release activities for chassis and suspension components.
- Coordinate annual revalidation activities and engineering changes within internal and customer release systems.
- Serve as the engineering point of contact for production issues and customer technical discussions.
- Support purchasing teams by providing engineering guidance during supplier sourcing activities.
- Develop product specifications and review supplier designs, communicating acceptable deviations and required changes.
- Coordinate engineering deliverables including CAD, drawings, BOMs, PLM change management, and technical documentation.
- Lead design reviews and collaborate with CAE and design teams to develop lightweight, cost-effective, and manufacturable products.
- Create and present technical reviews to customers, supporting product selection and competitive engineering proposals.
- Drive engineering changes to meet program timing and successful product launches.
- Support APQP deliverables including DFMEA, DVP&R, PFMEA, GD&T, and change management documentation.
- Lead engineering activities while tracking program timing, risks, budgets, and deliverables.
What you'll need to be successful:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- 5-10 years of automotive product engineering experience.
- Strong design experience with chassis and/or suspension components
, including stamped or cast steel and/or aluminum parts. - Experience with subframes and/or control arms
. - Strong knowledge of GD&T, physical validation, corrosion protection, and product release processes
. - Experience with APQP deliverables including DFMEA, DVP&R, and PFMEA
. - Understanding of CAD and CAE development activities.
- Knowledge of bolted joints, bushings, and/or ball joints.
- Experience leading design reviews and working directly with customers and suppliers.
- Strong understanding of design for manufacturability and assembly.
- Proven ability to manage engineering timing, risk assessments, and cross-functional program activities.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills in a collaborative engineering environment.
