Process Engineer, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineer
Provides expertise to the project team regarding the feasibility and the potential risks associated with the manufacturing process. Assists the Product Design Leader or Customer in the product design to integrate the constraints of the finishing processes, proposing product adjustments to improve its finishing, performance, and quality level + piece cost and resources. Validates the compatibility of the part's design with the finishing process.
DEFINITION OF FINISHING PROCESSESAcknowledges the technical-economic objectives and the project schedule
Identifies the gaps between customer requirements and the technical acquisition conditions and reports them to the project manager. Prepares, in collaboration with the project manager, a detailed inventory of the work to be done. Schedules and organizes the sequence of work to be carried out, in accordance with the project timeline.
Defines the functional specifications of the specific process means. Technically co-validates with Purchase and Director of Engineering the choice of suppliers for the specific process means. Sends to the project managers the timeline for the implementation of the finishing means for the consolidation of the overall timeline. Obtains manufacturing schedules upon launching the implementation of new specific means and monitors with suppliers the proper progress of the schedules.
Upon receiving preliminary studies and supplier studies, verifies consistency with specifications (using his own technical knowledge in the field and, if necessary, relying on colleagues and manufacturing sites), alerts the supplier by issuing reservations and accepts the studies of the specific means of the process (2D and 3D).
Ensures the follow-up on the manufacturing of specific process means by:
- weekly technical meetings with suppliers asking for proof of on going activities (occasional visits to suppliers to visually assess the progress of the entrusted work when necessary).
- establishing a corrective action plan with suppliers in case of delays, in conjunction with the buyer of specific means and the project team.
- communicating the results of weekly technical meetings to the project team.
Organizes the finishing tests FAT carried out by the suppliers (planning of Technician needs, sending components, sending packaging, organizing return of parts, ...)....
Ensures the proper execution of FAT by suppliers by making sure that the testing conditions are as close as possible to the series conditions and formalizing the acceptance or rejection of the determining criteria (machine operation, dimensions, conditions, and quality criteria) + report. Analyzes the parts resulting from the finishing tests with the project team. Proposes tuning solutions to be carried out in specific means.
Initiates and monitors the tuning of specific means. Informs the site. Gives approval for the transfer of specific means to the PVL plant after FAT reports validation by the Director of Engineering. Ensures the proper execution of SAT tests at PVL plant by ensuring that the conditions for conducting these tests are as close as possible to the series conditions and formalizing the acceptance or rejection of the determining criteria (machine operation, dimensions, conditions, and quality criteria), after approval of the plant and Director of Engineering.
Animation and Reporting:
Reports to the project manager and director of engineering on the progress of the study and the difficulties encountered and proposes solutions. Ensures compliance with commitments made regarding intermediate and final deadlines. Responsible for the conduct of the study within the budgeted economic conditions: analyzes the time spent, the remaining technical tasks, the changes in scope, and the rationale for their resale.
Proposes additional productivity solutions for immediate application or for storage in the technical savings portfolio. Responsible for process development costs. Formalize the feedback related to his area of expertise (Lessons learned).
