We are looking for an experienced CAD Designer / Automotive Design Engineer with strong expertise in Closures or Upper Body Sheet Metal design
. The ideal candidate will have 10-15 years of OEM-level automotive design experience and hands-on proficiency in CATIA V5/V6 and 3
DEXPERIENCE (3DX).
- Design and develop automotive closure and upper body sheet metal components using CATIA V5/V6 and 3
DEXPERIENCE. - Work on components such as doors, hood, liftgate/tailgate, decklid, fenders, and related closure structures
. - Develop 3D models, assemblies, detail drawings, and engineering documentation
. - Ensure designs meet OEM design standards, packaging requirements, manufacturing feasibility, and functional requirements
. - Perform design modifications, engineering changes, and support design release activities
. - Collaborate with Body, BIW, Manufacturing, CAE, Quality, and Supplier Engineering teams
. - Review and resolve design issues, fitment concerns, clearance/interference issues, and manufacturability constraints
. - Support DFMEA, DVP&R, design reviews, and change management activities as required.
- Maintain design data, BOMs, and product documentation within relevant PLM/PDM systems
. - Participate in technical discussions with OEM and cross-functional engineering teams.
- 10-15 years of automotive CAD/design experience
. - Proven experience in Closures Sheet Metal design;
Upper Body/BIW experience is also acceptable. - Advanced hands‑on experience with:
- CATIA V5
- CATIA V6 / 3
DEXPERIENCE (3DX) - Strong understanding of sheet metal design, automotive body structures, GD&T, tolerance stack-up, and manufacturing processes
. - Experience with design release and engineering change processes
. - Good understanding of automotive OEM standards and product development processes
. - Strong communication, problem‑solving, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
- Experience working directly with or supporting global automotive OEM programs
. - Exposure to Teamcenter, ENOVIA, or other PLM/PDM systems
. - Experience with design reviews, supplier coordination, and production support
. - Knowledge of APQP, DFMEA, PPAP, and automotive quality standards
.
