Catalyst Development Engineer
The Catalyst Development Engineer supports internal combustion engine (ICE), PHEV, and REPB aftertreatment system (ATS) design (three-way catalyst (TWC) and gasoline particulate filters (GPF)) procurement and delivery to internal customers for the calibration development of current and future vehicle programs.
The engineer is responsible for the ATS from the initial program bulletin through the full useful life of the ATS in the vehicle in the real-world.
The engineer must possess a deep understanding of ATS function and durability for the abatement of emissions from gasoline emissions.
Included in these responsibilities are the high visibility PGM Thrift/VO actions.
The candidate will also be part of the team that prepares limit catalysts for the On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) team.
This position will report directly to the Catalyst Integration Supervisor under the direction of the North America Aftertreatment Manager.
Other advanced aftertreatment projects may be in-scope depending on applicant's skillset and background.
Required Qualifications:- 2-5 years of experience in ATS design for gasoline engines.
- Thorough understanding of chemistry/chemical engineering as applied to ATS design and operation, e.g., chemical kinetics, diffusion, mass transfer.
- Experienced project management and program tracking
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively operate both independently and as part of a team.
- Minimum Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Applied Physics, Automotive, Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical/Computer Engineering or other scientific/technical discipline from an ABET accredited university.
