Validation Engineer
As a Validation Engineer, you will deeply review and understand customer requirements, create detailed test plans, and develop Product Verification Plans & Reports (PVP&Rs). You will interface with design teams for test plan approvals and results reviews, support engineering design meetings, and lead discussions to obtain necessary inputs for validation testing. Your role will require evaluating and providing accurate test proposals based on module or design changes, and ensuring mechanical design activities for vibration and environmental test fixtures are initiated and completed.
Responsibilities- Create and maintain accurate timing plans using Microsoft Project.
- Interface with design teams for electrical, mechanical, and software deliverables.
- Oversee mechanical design activities for vibration and environmental test fixture development.
- Conduct studies to ensure vibration fixtures do not add resonance to end products.
- Root cause failure modes during validation testing using structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Develop tools or automated solutions for data analysis and present findings clearly.
- Coordinate and track internal and external testing ensuring quality and deadlines are met.
- Train teams on test equipment operation and expectations.
- Monitor test status daily, retrieve and analyze data, and ensure tests meet profiles.
- Maintain validation testing items up-to-date in the Validation Tools System.
- Perform hands-on testing and review DFMEA to enrich test plans.
- Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while adapting to changing needs.
- Document validation failures in applicable tools.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 5 years of experience in an engineering automotive environment.
- Technical understanding of electrical, EMC, and environmental level testing.
- Proficiency in creating validation test plans and knowledge of validation customer requirements.
- Strong troubleshooting skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
- Ability to operate standard and specialized test equipment like DMM, Oscilloscope, Video Scope.
- Strong organizational, project management, and leadership skills.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in vision systems and camera functional testing.
- Hands-on electrical and EMC test experience.
- Programming experience in C/C++, C#, Lab View, Test Stand.
- Knowledge of CAN/LIN communications protocols.
- Green Belt/Red X/DFSS Certification.
- Familiarity with root cause investigation tools like 8D's, 5 Why's, Fish Bones.
- Reliability applications and Weibull analysis knowledge.
This is a fully onsite role, reporting to either the Southfield or Auburn Hills location. The position offers an opportunity to work with a global Tier I supplier in a dynamic environment focusing on ADAS technology.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Auburn Hills, MI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $48.00 - $53.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
