We are seeking a Director of Finance to lead and execute the company’s financial reporting, accounting, and planning functions. This is a hands-on role reporting directly to the President, with regular interaction with executive leadership and the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate is comfortable rolling up their sleeves while also operating at a strategic level.

Responsibilities
  • Own the preparation and presentation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for the President and Board of Directors
  • Lead financial reporting for both Commercial and Defense business units, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with all applicable requirements
  • Serve as a trusted financial advisor to executive leadership, providing clear insights and recommendations
Accounting & Close Process (Hands-On)
  • Lead and actively participate in the monthly close process, including:
  • Account reconciliations
  • Journal entries
  • Financial statement preparation
  • Ensure all financial reporting complies with GAAP, internal accounting policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Continuously improve accounting processes, controls, and documentation
Planning, Forecasting & Analysis
  • Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial models
  • Analyze and report on variances, trends, and key performance drivers
  • Provide financial analysis to support:
Controls, Compliance & Audit
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
  • Support external audits, including preparation of schedules and audit documentation
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial reporting requirements
Performance Metrics & Business Insight
  • Monitor financial and operational performance metrics
  • Recommend benchmarks and KPIs to measure and improve company performance
  • Translate complex financial data into actionable business insights
  • Partner closely with operations, engineering, and business unit leaders
  • Provide guidance and mentorship as the finance function evolves
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Strong executive-level communication and presentation skills, including Board interaction
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and time-management abilities
  • Deep understanding of accounting, financial reporting, and financial operations
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with financial and accounting systems
  • Microsoft Dynamics Business Central experience preferred
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles
  • Demonstrated experience owning financial close, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Experience preparing financial materials for executive leadership and Boards of Directors
  • Experience in a private equity–backed or closely held company strongly preferred
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred
