We are seeking a Director of Finance to lead and execute the company’s financial reporting, accounting, and planning functions. This is a hands-on role reporting directly to the President, with regular interaction with executive leadership and the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate is comfortable rolling up their sleeves while also operating at a strategic level.
Responsibilities- Own the preparation and presentation of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting for the President and Board of Directors
- Lead financial reporting for both Commercial and Defense business units, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with all applicable requirements
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to executive leadership, providing clear insights and recommendations
- Lead and actively participate in the monthly close process, including:
- Account reconciliations
- Journal entries
- Financial statement preparation
- Ensure all financial reporting complies with GAAP, internal accounting policies, and regulatory requirements
- Continuously improve accounting processes, controls, and documentation
- Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, and long-range financial models
- Analyze and report on variances, trends, and key performance drivers
- Provide financial analysis to support:
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
- Support external audits, including preparation of schedules and audit documentation
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal financial reporting requirements
- Monitor financial and operational performance metrics
- Recommend benchmarks and KPIs to measure and improve company performance
- Translate complex financial data into actionable business insights
- Partner closely with operations, engineering, and business unit leaders
- Provide guidance and mentorship as the finance function evolves
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Strong executive-level communication and presentation skills, including Board interaction
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and time-management abilities
- Deep understanding of accounting, financial reporting, and financial operations
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with financial and accounting systems
- Microsoft Dynamics Business Central experience preferred
- High attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration required
- 10+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles
- Demonstrated experience owning financial close, reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
- Experience preparing financial materials for executive leadership and Boards of Directors
- Experience in a private equity–backed or closely held company strongly preferred
- CPA or CMA designation preferred
