Financial Analyst
IT Finance Intern Job Purpose
The IT Finance Intern will support the IT Finance organization by assisting with monthly forecasting, budgeting, cost center management, and financial analysis activities. This role will work closely with the IT Finance Manager and partner with IT cost center owners as a finance business partner. The intern will gain hands‑on experience using enterprise financial systems such as SAP, One Stream, and NICUS, as well as developing financial analyses and presentation materials using Excel and Microsoft applications.
The role will also contribute to process improvement initiatives using AI and the development of standard work and documentation.
- Support monthly forecast cycles, including data preparation, variance analysis, and consolidation of inputs from IT cost center owners
- Evaluate actual results vs. forecast and budget, identify key drivers, and summarize variances
- Assist with budget and forecast development in NICUS, including data validation and system updates
- Support IT Finance Manager in preparing management and executive‑level presentation materials
- Work with IT cost center owners to gather forecast inputs, improve data quality, and clarify financial questions
- Assist in ensuring compliance with financial and accounting guidelines related to IT spend and allocations
- Help document assumptions, risks, and opportunities related to IT forecasts and budgets
- Perform system administration support in NICUS, including maintaining data tables, user access support, and basic configuration tasks (as appropriate)
- Support financial activities across SAP and One Stream, including extracting data, reconciling figures, and validating reporting outputs
- Develop and maintain Excel‑based models, templates, and trackers to support forecasting and reporting processes
- Utilize Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams) for analysis, communication, and documentation
- Support process improvement initiatives related to forecasting, budgeting, cost center management, and reporting
- Assist in developing and maintaining standard work procedures, job aids, and training documentation
- Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, data accuracy, and transparency within IT Finance processes
- Assist with ad‑hoc financial analysis and special projects as needed
- Support internal audits, data requests, and cross‑functional inquiries related to IT financial performance
- Participate in training sessions to build understanding of IT financial systems and processes
Education and Experience
- Current full‑time enrollment in an accredited college, university, vocational/trade school.
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Management Information Systems, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, basic data analysis);
PowerPoint experience preferred - Ability to communicate clearly with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Exposure to SAP, One Stream, NICUS, or other ERP/FP&A systems
- Prior internship or coursework related to financial analysis, budgeting, or forecasting
- Interest in IT Finance, cost management, or enterprise systems
- Experience documenting processes or creating standard work
- Must have the ability to report onsite at least three days per week
