Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission‑accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents and adults. Position SummaryThe Music Therapist provides Music Therapy services, including assessment, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions, and discharge planning. The therapist utilizes individual and/or group interventions to bring about positive changes in patients’ behavior—cognitive, social, emotional, or physical—and educates patients on healthy coping skills, available resources, and continued post‑discharge involvement. Services are delivered according to current practice standards.
Duties and Responsibilities- Establish treatment goals and objectives to meet individual patient needs and determine Music Therapy modality to achieve those goals.
- Evaluate each patient’s progress and the effectiveness of therapy; record results on daily progress notes and follow documentation policies.
- Interview and assess patients’ level of functioning; observe participation and response during Music Therapy sessions.
- Attend treatment team conferences to exchange information with team members and assist with initial treatment plans and progress summary updates.
- Use music to reveal thoughts and feelings, safely managing any reactions that may arise.
- Collaborate with patients using musical approaches as part of their treatment.
- Maintain a flexible work schedule to meet program and hospital needs.
- Bachelor’s degree or certification in Music Therapy required.
- Music Therapist‑Board Certified (MT‑BC) required.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a psychiatric setting preferred.
