Lead Certified Therapeutic Recreational Therapist – Full-Time
Havenwyck Hospital (a UHS facility) is a Joint Commission‑accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and adults, building strength, confidence, and knowledge within each patient.
Position SummaryThe Lead CTRS is responsible for provision of Recreational Therapy services, including assessments, treatment planning, therapeutic activity interventions and discharge leisure planning. The Lead CTRS utilizes individual and/or group activity interventions to bring about positive changes in the client’s behavior, cognition, social, emotional, or physical state. The Lead CTRS educates the client in healthy coping skills and available leisure resources to continue post‑discharge leisure planning and involvement, and delivers services in accordance with current standards of practice.
Responsibilities- Conduct therapeutic assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Lead and facilitate individual and group recreational therapy sessions.
- Plan and implement activity interventions that foster positive behavioral and emotional outcomes.
- Coordinate discharge leisure planning and post‑discharge follow‑up.
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all regulatory and institutional policies.

- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from an approved program required.
- Certification by the National Certification Board (NCTRC) required.
- Two (2) years of clinical experience required; psychiatric experience preferred.
- Employee must be in good standing (evaluation/employment history, corrective action, etc.) to be considered for internal transfer.
