general job summary:

the shipping & receiving team member supports daily inbound and outbound material flow to meet production, quality, and customer delivery requirements. This role ensures material is received, identified, documented, stored, and shipped accurately while maintaining traceability and compliance with company procedures and applicable aerospace/defense regulations.

works under the direction of the plant operations supervisor and coordinates with supply chain, quality, production, engineering, and program teams.

essential job functions: inbound receiving and material routing
  • performs daily receiving activities, including unloading, counting, visually inspecting, documenting, labeling, and routing incoming material.
  • verifies incoming material against purchase orders, packing lists, certifications, test reports, and other required documentation.
  • applies required receiving identification and maintains proper segregation of material awaiting quality inspection, mrb, engineering review, or other disposition.
  • routes accepted material and documentation to quality, inventory, kitting, production, engineering, test, or the designated internal owner based on approved workflow and lead direction.
erp/mrp transactions and data integrity
  • executes assigned erp/mrp receiving, inventory, transfer, and shipping transactions accurately and promptly; costpoint experience is preferred.
  • ensures system quantities, locations, status, lot or serial information, and transaction dates match the physical material and supporting documentation.
  • updates material status to support accurate planning, kitting, inventory visibility, production scheduling, quality traceability, and program reporting.
  • scans, uploads, files, and retains receiving and shipping records in accordance with document-retention and quality-system requirements.
  • supports transaction reconciliation and promptly reports system errors, duplicate receipts, quantity differences, or other data-integrity concerns to the lead.
outbound shipping and documentation
  • picks, verifies, packages, labels, and prepares material, parts, engines, equipment, and documentation for domestic or international shipment as assigned.
  • verifies shipment contents against the applicable sales order, purchase order, packing list, work order, customer instructions, and approved shipping request.
  • prepares or supports preparation of packing lists, shipping labels, bills of lading, certificates of conformance, commercial invoices, hazardous-material declarations, and export-control documentation using approved procedures and templates.
  • uses appropriate packaging, preservation, esd protection, fod controls, cushioning, containers, and labeling to prevent damage and meet customer and carrier requirements.
  • coordinates carrier or courier pickups, shipment handoff, tracking information, and proof-of-delivery records under the direction of the plant operations supervisor.
  • escalates international, hazardous, export-controlled, unusually high-value, or customer-critical shipments for required review and approval before release.
material handling, inventory, and traceability
  • safely moves, stores, stages, and delivers material using approved carts, pallet jacks, forklifts, and other material‑handling equipment within training and certification limits.
  • supports daily material flow with material planning & logistics, production, quality, and supply chain to address shortages, urgent needs, inspection priorities, and build‑schedule requirements.
  • protects material traceability and chain of custody during receipt, internal movement, storage, packaging, shipment, return, and rework activities.
cross‑functional support and communication
  • communicates receiving status, shipment status, documentation gaps, damages, shortages, and other material concerns clearly and promptly to the plant operations supervisor and affected stakeholders.
  • coordinates with quality inspection and mrb to route material requiring inspection, ncr processing, supplier follow‑up, or engineering review.
