Position OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Proto
TRAK/CNC Mill Specialist who thrives in a precision machining environment. This role requires a skilled professional who can work independently to produce complex aerospace components from engineering drawings through final inspection.
- Program, set up, and operate Proto
TRAK RMX Milling Machines and Bridgeport equipment - Machine complex prototype aerospace components to exact specifications
- Read and interpret 2D blueprints, 3D CAD models, and technical documentation
- Perform first-article inspections and in-process quality checks
- Select appropriate tooling, work-holding fixtures, and cutting parameters
- Maintain equipment through basic preventative maintenance
- Work collaboratively with engineering and quality teams to resolve manufacturing challenges
- Document work processes and maintain accurate production records
- Minimum 10 years’
hands-on machining experience - Expert proficiency with Proto
TRAK RMX controls and Bridgeport manual mills - Strong knowledge of G-code and M-code programming
- Advanced understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and 3D models
- Proficiency with precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, indicators)
- Own complete set of precision machining tools
- Experience with CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion 360, or similar)
- Familiarity with AS9100 quality standards and aerospace manufacturing requirements
- Knowledge of advanced aerospace materials (titanium, Inconel, aluminum alloys)
- Experience machining tight-tolerance components (+/- 0.0005")
- Ability to develop manufacturing methods for first-run prototypes
- Basic understanding of lean manufacturing principles
- Experience with multi-axis setups and complex fixture design
- Self-motivated with strong problem-solving abilities
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
- Proactive communication with engineering and production teams
- Willingness to mentor junior machinists
