Job PurposeTo provide expertise in supporting dispensing systems for multiple product lines. The Manufacturing Engineer role in dispense systems involves a range of responsibilities crucial for the successful implementation and optimization of dispense systems within a manufacturing environment, including adhesive dispensing, thermal paste dispensing, conformal coat dispensing, and epoxy potting (under vacuum) focusing on ignition coils.
Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain Bill of Process (BOP), best practices, and lessons learned for dispensing and potting applications.
- Provide global manufacturing engineering support to PHINIA plants for dispensing and potting processes.
- Lead manufacturing engineering activities through product development gates and new model programs.
- Specify, implement, and validate dispensing systems to meet manufacturing and process requirements.
- Develop and support PM procedures, PFMEAs, control plans, and standardized dispense system training programs.
- Drive continuous optimization of adhesive, dispensing, and potting processes in current and future production.
- Lead and resolve dispensing‑related quality and process issues across global production sites.
- Support prototype, pre‑production, launch, and safe launch build phases.
- Create, modify, and manage dispense/potting programs with multiple equipment suppliers (e.g., Nordson, Hubers).
- Ensure effective technical documentation, communication, project prioritization, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering or a related technical field.
- Proven experience with epoxy potting under vacuum using resin and hardener for ignition coil applications.
- Minimum 5+ years of hands‑on experience designing and implementing robotic and manual dispensing processes in automotive or related industries.
- Strong ability to analyze materials and develop robust epoxy processes, including pre‑heat, dispense, gel, and cure.
- Expertise in ignition coil impregnation and adhesion, with the ability to optimize potting and curing processes.
- Deep knowledge of adhesive materials, dispensing processes, and equipment (e.g., SCA, Nordson, Hubers).
- Demonstrated experience in adhesive validation, testing, dispense system selection, and applications on steel, aluminum, and plastics.
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD environments and understanding of manufacturing fundamentals such as cycle time, quality, and efficiency.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to independently drive solutions to high accuracy and quality.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the willingness to travel up to 50% to support global teams, plants, and suppliers.
